SOLD OUT Session 1 - Friday 28th February 10am til 12pm - Tote Bag
In this session we will cover how to get started with your sewing machine learning how to wind a bobbin, thread your machine and sew with a straight stitch. We will then use these skills to make a lined tote bag.
Session 2 - Friday 7th March 10am til 12pm - Fabric Basket
This second session will build on your skills from the first, continuing to grow your confidence in setting up your machine and sewing with a straight stitch. We will also add in the technique of using interfacing to help build stability into your projects and create a cute fabric basket.
Session 3 - Friday 14th March 10am til 12.30pm - Buttoned Pouch
Session 3 is a skills practise session. We will learn about when and how to use some of the most common stitches on your sewing machine and then move on to how to change your sewing machine foot and set up your machine for sewing zips. You will then get to spend some time practising sewing them into scrap fabric. The second half of the session will have a different skills focus: learning how to sew buttonholes with your machine.
Session 4 - Friday 21st March 10am til 12.30pm - Piped Cushion Cover
In this final session we will pull together all the skills you have learnt to create a piped cushion cover with a zip closure.
SEWING MACHINES - Bring your own machine! Each sewing machine has subtle differences and learning on your own machine means you will build confidence using your machine and learn how to adjust its settings for different makes and purposes. Don’t worry if you don’t have or can’t bring your own machine, I have machines available for people to use during the workshops. Just select the option to borrow one at checkout.
WHERE’S IT AT - Workshops are held in my studio at Shed 11, Unit 2, Murray Road, Greystones, S11 7GH. Spaces are limited to 6 for each workshop to ensure you get individual attention, time to ask questions and any help and support you need during the class (and the halftime biscuits go further!).
